Baden-Powell Challenge Award
The Baden-Powell Challenge Award is the highest award a girl can acheive while she is in the Guides section of Girlguiding. At 28th Wimbledon we encourage all our older Guides to try to achieve this award and support them as far as possible in Year 9 as they finish the award. (The award has to be finished before girls leave Guides.)
This is just an overview of the award. We encourage all Guides and parents to read the full requirements for the Baden-Powell Award on the Girlguiding UK website, as that will help you to plan ahead when choosing which badges and activities to do from when you first join us, not just in Year 9. Please talk to any of the leaders if you would like to know more about the Baden-Powell Challenge Award. Getting started
To start the Baden-Powell Challenge you need to have:
This shows your commitment to guiding. Completing the Challenge
The Baden-Powell Challenge is divided into five "zones", each containing lots of different clauses. These are:
You need to complete ten clauses in total - one from each zone and then five more which can come from any of the zones. Up to two of them can relate to Country/Region or Girlguiding initiatives. Final step - The Baden-Powell Adventure
To finish the Award you need to take part in a Baden-Powell Adventure. These are usually residential events organised by your county, region or country for all Guides in the area who are doing the Baden-Powell Challenge.
When you have nearly completed your Baden-Powell Challenge Award, you'll be sent details of these Adventure events so that you can choose one that suits you. |
